Rail Fence Block Quilt Tutorial

I just love this Plum Sweet Jelly Roll from Moda.  So I decided to make a Rail Fence Block Quilt to showcase the gorgeous colors.

To make this quilt top you will need one jelly roll.  This will give you a twin-sized quilt top.  We will be adding a couple of borders in contrasting fabric to make it bigger. I’m even thinking of doing one of the borders in a chequerboard effect, which I think will add some dimension and interest. To make the checkerboard I will make it just as I did when making the checkerboard tote bag.

UPDATE: I ended up just cutting some strips for the border and I think it finished the quilt of nicely.

In the video we show you how to put this quick and easy quilt together. It’s really fun to do and it looks great when it’s completed.

Rail Fence Quilt – Back

Once I had added the borders I took the quilt to Chris – The Longarm Quilter for quilting.  I decided to just sew some wide strips of leftover fabric together to form the backing and I was pleased with the result. Here are some photos of the back with the quilting done. I love the pattern Chris chose for this quilt
