Readers Project: Karen’s Quarter Log Cabin Christmas Lap Quilt

Note from Alanda Craft: I really love Karen’s quarter log cabin, Christmas lap quilt. She has used a variety of lovely xmas fabrics for her log cabin blocks and I think the large red border really makes the design pop. Thank you for sharing your quilt photo with us Karen. Karen Says:

Using scraps from my Christmas material, I made the quarter log cabin pattern into blocks, then quilted the blocks using the meander pattern on my embroidery machine.

I then added sashing to join the blocks together using the Alanda Craft method. I sandwiched the border and straight stitched rows on them, then added binding to the overall project.

This was my first project and although it turned out pretty good, it’s a lot of red! But it is a Christmas lap quilt. If I make another one, I’ll make a smaller red border and add another Christmas fabric border to break up all that red!
