Readers Project: Sandra’s Envelope Cushion Covers

Note from Alanda Craft: I was contacted by Sandra when she was making a cushion cover with a painting that had been done by her very talented mother, who has since passed on. I thought this was such a lovely idea that Sandra had, to make cushion covers featuring her mothers art. This is such a delightful Santa face that certainly deserves to be in pride of place in the home. Sandra has also made more delightful cushion covers. I’m a sucker for giraffes, they are one of my favourite animals, and I love the cute little dragon, plus I can’t think of too many people who don’t like horses.

Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous cushion covers with us Sandra. You have certainly given some inspiration to not only myself but I’m sure to a lot of our readers. Sometimes we just don’t know what to do with items that our relatives have given us and it’s such a shame when these treasures are tucked away in boxes or drawers. Having them on display just gives us that memory moment that brings joy to our hearts.

Now I haven’t used the June Tailor inkjet sew-in sheets, however, after seeing the lovely results that Sandra has achieved, I will certainly be giving them a try.

Sandra Says
I’ve used Wanda’s Easy Zipper Pillow video in the past to make pillows for family members but this time I contacted her with a few questions. She was kind enough to get right back to me and told me that I could send a picture to the project page if I wanted to share.

The first picture is of a pillow I made for our granddaughter for her St. Patty’s day birthday. The second picture with the three pillows is of those I made for our great granddaughters depicting things that they love. The last picture is of an image of Santa that my mother painted years ago.

The back story is that every year she would paint the Santa on a mirror with water colors and after Christmas she would clean it off and repeat it the next year. One year when my brother was in the military she painted Santa on a Christmas card for him. I am so glad we have that card because I’ve been able to use the image to make pillows for family members. I’ve made 4 so far and need to make 4 more. I used June Tailor inkjet sew-in sheets to print out the image and incorporate them into the pillow covers. I’m thankful for this opportunity to share my pillows with you as well as share my Mothers talent with you all

The Leprechaun Cushion Cover – This little leprechaun is just so darn cute. The clover fabric that Sandra has used as the border really sets off the cushion and makes it pop. I am sure her granddaughter just loves her cushion.

Now who doesn’t love horses, giraffes and dragons, not too many people I’m sure. Now, I think that these cushion covers are just delightful and what lovely gifts for Sandra’s granddaughters.

And now to the pièce de résistance – Sandra’s mothers Santa Cushion Cover. I think it is wonderful that Sandra and her family have this lovely reminder of their mother and her amazing talent. Not being an artist I am always in awe of people who are able to create works of art using pencils, crayons and/or paints.

I think Sandra has certainly done Santa justice with his snowflake border.
