Over the past few months we have attended a variety of workshops at Calico Patch, which is located at Gold Creek Village, Nicholls.
The workshops are great fun and the ladies are really delightful. Nothing is too much trouble they are very willing to share their tips and knowledge. Diane generally conducts the workshop and she is just so helpful. Rhonda owns the shop and is the quilting guru. The quilts on display are nothing short of amazing. Chris does the quilting and quilting costs are very, very reasonable so if you have a quilted UFO ( unfinished object) in your cupboard, drag it out and take it along to the Calico Patch shop to have it quilted. Tanya, I have been informed is the designer and you will see why she deserves that title when you see the beautiful quilts she has designed.
The workshops are very reasonably priced, and for those of you who are just getting into quilting, Rhonda runs a 6 week beginners quilting course where you will learn all you need to know.

There were quite a number of different kits available to make on the day and it was so hard to choose. I started with the Christmas Bell – big mistake. I do not like hand sewing and I was told but I thought as it was only sewing two edges together with a little bell shaped bead it would be okay. Well lucky me, Tanya could see I was not enjoying the exercise very much and she offered to take over the making of the bell. So I cannot claim to have made it but I was very grateful. Chris, one of the other ladies attending the workshop also made the bell, and it was a breeze to her. She made a lovely job of her bell and enjoyed the exercise. So by all means make the bell if you don’t mind hand sewing.

Paula made the small gift bag and it turned out really lovely, a great design and easy to do. We both made the drawstring gift bag, and quite honestly, I love the design. I finished up purchasing the Trivet/oven mitt/teatowel kit, but only had time to finish the oven mitt. I wanted to do the set as I fell in love with the material.
