UPDATE: This feature is no longer needed as Brother has introduced new downloadable software called Canvas Workspace that allows you to use the fonts on your computer. You can download the software from the Brother ScanNCut site here.
Brother recently introduced a new feature that allows you to use fonts on your computer and convert the words that you create to cutting files. It’s a piece of software that you load onto your computer and you can type in words using and then save them to an FCM file which can be read by your ScanNCut machine.
Watch the video tutorial below
This video takes you through the step-by-step process on how to set up the software and how to create words using your own fonts and save them to cutting files.

Easy to follow, thanks.
Ps, it’s great to see an Australian tutorial
Kevin king says
Anyone know the smallest size of fonts the scan n cut2 can cut? Thanks
Alanda Craft says
This is going to depend heavily on the font itself. Nice thick fonts are going to cut easier at smaller sizes than fine fonts.

This was the perfect video to learn this. I was so frustrated trying to find out how to do this before! I couldn’t find it on YouTube though. Thanks so much!
Michelle Bik says
This is the wrong tutorial shown in the video. It is about scoring a paper project, it has nothing to do with using your TTF for the Brother Scan n Cut.
Alanda Craft says
I just watched it Michelle and it is showing the correct video. You may have accidentally clicked on a related video. If you refresh your browser window and try again, it should work.
Rochelle says
Where do I find this new feature ? Do you have a link for it please.
Alanda Craft says
This feature is no longer needed Rochelle. You only need to download the Canvas Workspace software and you will be able to use any font on your machine. You can download the software here – https://canvasworkspace.brother.com/
Sue Briggs says
I have the canvas workspace but still don’t know how to access my own fonts.
Alanda Craft says
The Brother Type Converter discussed in this post is no longer needed as you can just access your own fonts that you have installed on your computer. So when you are in Canvas Workspace (and assuming you are using the downloadable desktop version) just click on the “T” icon on the side menu. When you do this a new menu appears at the top of the screen and you will see a dropdown of the fonts. You can just select one from there and click on your screen to type your text.

Thanks for sharing. I can’t use the Brother software on my computer because I’m using Windows 7 (they only have softwares for higher OS). This is very useful for me. Thanks for sharing.

There is no video just a pdf icon and a printer icon.

You may have an ad blocker turned on Susan, and that is why you are unable to see the video. Here is a link to the YouTube video https://youtu.be/P0ouky2yY1Y
